Founder & CEO
Victor L. Brown is a seasoned leader with extensive experience within both large global and start-up companies that deploy enterprise class software and sensor-based applications. Victor has driven business success as a leader and as a hands-on practitioner of best-practice approaches in delivering innovation into global markets. Victor has driven the successful delivery of over 20 global solutions across his professional career.
Victor started his career with Schneider Electric ($35B company operating in 120 different countries) as an Computer / electrical engineer and after 5 years transitioned to a marketing role. As a marketing leader, Victor managed software products & solutions where he spent another 6 years driving product growth year-over-year. After Schneider Electric, Victor joined his first start-up BPL Global, where he built an international product marketing team driving triple-revenue growth in a 3-year span. He has also worked as a consultant, where he founded APEX Strategy & Marketing to help small to mid-size companies develop go-to-market strategies and provide them with deep insights to best-practice approaches. More recently, Victor has served in various VP roles where he has driven business growth at both Tendril Networks & GridEdge Networks. Over the course of his career, Victor has spoken at both national and international events where he has provided thought leadership and market insights on developing technology trends and the implications of those trends.
Chief Technology Officer
Samuel is an expert in the area of actionable analytics and software development having served as the Chief Analytics and Technology Officer at YieldWise Inc (a leading provider of sophisticated solutions for data mining and statistical analysis of big data), Director of Actionable Analytics at Rackspace, Inc, and Chief Technology Officer at WatchWise developing critical software and services to guide and improve online presence of companies in different industries. Samuel has extensive knowledge of audience intelligence, design and analysis of statistical experiments, market-mix modeling and multi-channel commerce and has worked in variety of industries like online and offline retail, telecom, finance, fashion and more.
Samuel also co-authored three books on statistical analysis, metadata-based applications, and machine learning development with SAS & R which are used in universities globally, and was featured in Forbes Magazine for his work for GAP.
Chief Medical Officer
Lakiesha Crawford is an Anesthesiologist who specializes in Pain management. In addition to CMO of Xcellent life, she currently serves as medical director for LifeLinc anesthesia services and Chair of Anesthesiology for North Crest Medical Center. Her multiple roles include providing strategic oversight and support for clinical staff, representing hospital leadership, and caring for her patients. Lakiesha received her medical training at Meharry Medical College and her residency at both The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Oregon Health and Science University before completing two sub-specialty fellowships in Acute and Chronic interventional pain medicine at Vanderbilt and Wake Forest Hospitals. She is also active in mission ministry and outreach.
Kisha is the principal attorney at the Cheeks Rucker Firm, a civil law firm that works with businesses, start-ups, entrepreneurs and individuals handling a variety of legal needs including trial strategy, business formations, contracts, growth initiatives and disputes. Kisha particularly works with companies to manage and protect their intellectual property assets.
Sean Norris brings tremendous leadership and deep experience to Xcellent Life as a member of the board of directors. Moreover, Sean’s activities and experience highlight his strong desire for community empowerment as well as his proven leadership driving financial transactions including funding and M&A activities. In addition to Xcellent Life, Sean is a board member for Memphis Center City Revenue Finance Corp., committee member for Memphis-Shelby County for the Achievement School District of the State of TN and the Boys & Girls Club of Memphis, TN. Sean’s board experience goes back to 2002, where he was a Grand Selection Committee Member at FleetBoston Financial Foundation out of New York, NY. Since then Sean has provided board level leadership for philanthropic and community organizations, academia, municipalities, & for-profit corporations.
Beyond Sean’s board experience, his hands-on leadership has help drive growth at a number of financial institutions.
Currently, Sean serves as Regional Business Director for Pathway Lending, where he started working in February 2014. Before Sean’s Role with Pathway lending, his leadership roles included Managing Director at Campbell, Issac & CO, VP at First Tennessee Bank, AVP at JP Morgan Chase, and Managing Director at Praetorian Consulting Group. Sean also has served in hands-on roles within financial institutions dealing in public and private equity since 1987. Over the course of Sean’s career, he has helped manage and lead over 2 billion dollars in various financial transactions
Preston James II
Preston is the CEO/Founder of Ascension International, LLC, a consulting and advisory services company to small businesses based in Austin, TX. He spent 25 years in Enterprise IT Solution industry. Preston is a passionate, energetic, collaborative, and customer focused business leader who has global experience in enterprise sales, partnership development and strategic sales planning and execution. Throughout his 20+ years at Dell, Preston served in various leadership roles including as the National Enterprise Sales Director for the Federal Civilian group in Dell’s Federal Government business segment, where he led his team to grow the business 14% YoY to $260M. As the Global Director of Enterprise Technologists for Small and Medium Business (SMB) for Dell, his newly established team of global team of technology solutions experts helped drive $130M in incremental revenue growth to SMB’s $3.2B enterprise business. In his last role at Dell , he was the Managing Director, “COO” , of the Dell Global Center for Entrepreneurs, where he managed the $100M global credit fund initiative whose purpose was to accelerate the growth and speed to market for tech startups. He led this team to grow their revenue contribution to SMB segment from $4M in 2012 to $92M+ in revenue contribution by the end of 2013.
Preston received his BSME from Howard University. He serves on the board for a number of companies as well as non-profits such as the Greater Austin Black Chamber of Commerce and Four Points Basketball Association. He is an increasingly active member of the Austin startup ecosystem as a member of Central Texas Angel Network and a mentor at Capital Factory in Austin.
John has over 3 decades of experience in managing and building technology teams. His experience has included working for some of the leading supply chain and entertainment companies in the world. In addition he has built six start-ups that were successfully sold to established companies in their field. He is currently focused on designing and building machine learning systems that prevent over a $1 Billion in fraud per year for a Fortune 500 company.
Tommy is a successful entreprenuer / business owner who has deep expertise banking and financing. Tommy also has a depth of software expertise as he has founded an ofshore software development firm, which he has used to develop sophisticated banking audit and security software. In particular Tommy has spent decades in Pre-Funding, Post-Closing, Anti-Money Laundering, Federal Regulatory, Pre-Purchase, Servicing, and MERS.
